Ati Ruger

are there any problems with the ruger mini 14?

My father owns one but I have only shot it one session about 20 times and it performed great, but do these guns have any problems? if they are good guns and I decide to get one I was thinking about installing a ATI stock on it. do the ati stocks pose any problems also? http://www.combatstocks.com/ATI_Ruger_Mini_14_Strikeforce_Package_RUG_2200.cfm

Ink,

I have owned several since they first came out in all the configurations. I must admit they look badazz with a folding stock, but I have become traditional in my old age. As for accuracy, they are more accurate than most shooters. I remember when they were first introduced and I soon owned one. I had a friend who was a custom rifle builder and he took it home with him. It was returned with glass bedding and a little carving on the stock and I would have put it up against any AR-15, of which I also have owned several. My biggest regret was not buying a truck load of AR’s when they were $180.00 each.

I believe in the Mini because of its operating system, it is much less finicky. The M-14 is a much more reliable rifle than the M-16, but you cannot tell that to the new AR generation. If in a situation where you cannot keep your weapon emaculately clean and free of dirt the Mini 14 will rule the day. I keep my stainless Mini 14, with 10 factory mags and a couple thousand rounds of ammo around just in case someone tries to walk on my freedoms.
