Camouflage Water
Why does the US Navy have camouflage?
Its kind of a blue-gray. My reasoning is as follows: This seems to be designed to blend in with the ocean. If I fell in the ocean, I wouldn’t want to blend in. I would want to stand out so I could be spotted and rescued. Obviously, it is not worn by divers as they wear wetsuits, not BDU’s, and its pretty much pointless for anyone but divers to blend in with the ocean. If you wanted to blend in with the ship you were on, all you would need is clothes in a flat gray that matches the paint of the ship. And if you were in the water and really needed to blend in with the ocean, all you would need to wear is the hat anyway. Because really, everything but your head would be under water anyway. Actually, a hat made out of seaweed would be more ideal. Kinda like a ghillie suit. Anyway, I just saw a picture of this guy I know in the Navy wearing blue camo and wondered what the point was.
The Air Force had a blue tiger stripe camoflauge too. It’s not like pilots need to blend in with the sky when they’re in the air or anything. Who knows? If it had little cotton balls pasted to the hat/helmet like cotton balls it might make more sense, but they didn’t go that way. The current uniform isn’t so blue any more though.
