I have a remington 11-87 super magnum semi-auto shotgun and i have some questions…?
i would like to know how come i can not add any shells in the magazine tube, while the bolt is forward and the trigger has not been set, am i doing something wrong…..or its not supposed to work like that….
but it works fine when i load one shell in the chamber, and then i push up on the carrier latch to load the shells in the magazine tube…..
and also one more thing, when i want to unload the shells from the shotgun, and i pull back on the bolt, the bolt all the way back, the bolt doesnt go forward automatically, but if i pull it back a certain distance it goes forward and loads a shell, until there are no more shells…
When i meant trigger not set, i meant to say that i did not pull back on the bolt and let it go therefore the hammer would be cocked and ready to fire…..

I am not sure what you mean by the trigger not being “set”. The gun doesn’t know if there is a round in the chamber. The proper way to load it is to make sure the bolt is closed and the gun is on safe. Then insert shells until the magazine is full. Pull the bolt back and let it slam forward, which will chamber a round. Then insert one more round into the magazine.
In your second question, you describe a working gun. That is, this is precisely what it is supposed to do. If you pull the bolt ALL the way back, it locks open. You close it by pressing on the release button where you feed shells in to the magazine.
I like the way this works. When I unload mine, I pull the bolt all the way back until it locks. This ejects the shell that was chambered, and I can turn the gun on its side and dump out the round that was getting ready to go in the chamber. I then release the bolt, which does NOT chamber another shell. I can open it again and dump out the next round, and so on, never chambering a shell.
