what is the distance of a colt 1911 pistol?
if a man was shot with a colt 1911/ 45 ACP cartridge, the bullet penetrated the body and didn’t leave an exit wound….. how far should the shooter be standing?

can you tell me exact details about both (the 45 and the 9mm) I mean the weigh /expansion capability /speed, etc…
just if you can tell… which one has a bigger chance in leaving an exit wound?

I can easily hit targets at 100 yards with my Springfield. But it has to be a big target- I get a lousy grouping at that range. I can not control my shots well.
When I trained with the 1911 many years ago in the Army- we trained at 7, 15 and I believe 25 yards.
Pistols are intended for close quarters combat. They are not intended to use for distance. However some can shoot long range consistently. This is not the norm.
A full metal jacket (fmj) will probably go through a human body, but a jacketed hollow point (jhp) should mushroom out and stop. Modern self defense jhp 45 ammo will penetrate 12-14 inches into ballistic gel.
But as to how far away the shooter should stand from the target- 10 yards is about average for target shooting.
