About what is the cheapest I could find a colt Python?
Anyone know?
The Colt Python .357 Magnum? About two years ago I paid $900 for a Satin Stainless Steel 4″ Model. Last year I paid nearly $1,200 for a 6″ Royal Blue like new in the box. This year I saw another Satin Stainless model but with the 6″ barrel. The asking price was $1,500. It didn’t stay in the counter at the gun shop long.
My first Python in the Sixties was a small fortune at $150. My second one in the Eighties was a steal at $416. In the mid-Ninties I passed on a Royal Blue 6″ one that was new in the box. The gun shop wanted $600 for it and like a fool I waited until pay day. I didn’t find another good one until last year when I paid double that amount for it! Pythons have done nothing but go up in price. If you find a good one grab it. Make sure its original, though, as if it is re-blued or nickel plate other than factory-original the value goes down considerably. By the way, you do know that the Colt Python is no longer being manufactured?
