I have a Wards Western Field Deluxe 12 gauge side by side. Model 55-SD149A?

Can anyone tell me the manufacturer, and or approximate date of Mfg ? It looks to be at least a few decades old. Just trying to get a feel for the guns history. Thnaks..

What you have is most likely a Savage/Stevens Model 311 double gun, made sometime after WWII and before the early 1970′s. They’re not particularly collectible, but can probably tell great tales of fine stalks and hunts with good ol’ hunting pals with names like “Rusty”, “Hunter”, “Red”, “Blackie” and the like. Those types of guns weren’t snazzy or high dollar, but they were indeed the solid backbone of hunting in America.

This was their true value. So take the Old Girl out and let her have some fun…maybe someday she’ll whisper stories about you to your grand kids.
