Dot Night

Would an aimpoint red dot work though a night vision device?

i see it in magazines but i have no idea what type of optics they use

Yes. Night Vision devices are ambient light amplification.
They work so well you can sneak up on deer mice in the alpine barvarian forests.
The red dot (being a LASER) would be even easier to see.
Any light at all, even red, is much more visible.
Although it through the displays of many of these night vision
devices it would appear as a very bright green.
