What is the difference between analogue and digital electronic components?
I am leaning towards electrical/electronic engineering and I recently heard about digital and analogue electrical components, and I wanted to know what they were and what does the world mainly use today?
Analog components are things which operate over a continuous range of voltage.
Digital components only operate at specific voltages (usually two; a ‘high’ voltage and a ‘low’ voltage).
They aren’t historical devices. Analog components exist in every circuit (resistors and capacitors are the most basic and they are in every circuit). Digital components are in anything that has/acts like a computer (microwave oven interfaces, cars, alarm clocks, cell phones, GPS units, PCs etc.).
