How to tune a guitar by ear?
I need to figure out how to tune my guitar, and make e6= d, (i dont know what that means either.) the only tool i have for this is the guitar, and the electronic tuning device that game with it. Help?
E6 refers to the lowest pitch string on your guitar. E6=D indicates that the string should be tuned down 1 whole step to D.
Now, what is not clear is if only that string should be tuned down (this is commonly called “Drop D” tuning) or the entire guitar should be tuned down one whole step.
I’m betting it’s Drop D.
Without knowing what kind of tuner you have, I can’t give you any advice on using it. What you could do is tune your 6th string to be one octave below your 4th string (which is D).
