2005 Dodge Dakota SLT driver door cant be opened. Electronic lock system disabled because we are changing batt
We were trying to troubleshoot the failure to start of my 2005 Dodge Dakota SLT truck and after removing the battery and taking it to a local Auto Zone, we learned the battery is dead. **wonderful** After purchasing a new battery, we learned the driver side door can not be opened. I have always used the automatic lock system on my key so I have never had a need to use the key to open the door. I have tried both of my keys (one of which was a spare barely being used) and despite all efforts we can’t get the blasted door open. Now before you ask about the passenger side, let me alarm you by saying there is no keyhole on the passenger side. I am trying hard not to call a locksmith cause I am already spending money I don’t have. With rising costs for everything aside from air and the fact the truck has just exceeded its 3 year warranty, I can’t afford to be pouring more money into this thing. 
Does anyone have any idea how to fix or troubleshoot this unusual problem? **i hate mondays**
you might be able to use a slim jim on the door lock that will trip the door lock for you and open it,once you in and the battery is installed the system should reset its self,i bought a slim jim to keep around because i lock my self out once in a while and it will open the door for you,its either that or a lock smith and he will use slim jim on it also,they only cost about ten bucks through most parts stores,and they work really good,good luck with it.
