Question about the overtime laps yesterday?

When a race goes into overtime to have a green, white, checker finish, shouldn’t NASCAR allow the teams to pit in order to make sure they have enough gas to account for the extra laps? Yesterday’s Nationwide race was extended nine laps in order to have a two-lap finish, obviously this was something that the crew chiefs didn’t put into their calculations as evident by some of the cars running out of gas shortly after the restart. It only happened to about two or three that I can remember, but it still didn’t seem fair to me that NASCAR could extend the race that much and not allow the teams to refuel without losing their positions during laps that technically shouldn’t even exist. What are your thoughts?

I agree with you completly. It was because of someone running out of gas (im sorry I don’t remember who) that caused them to go a few more laps. They were allowed to pit (2 cars did) but they lost spots. They should be able to pit and still hold position, you are right. However, I don’t see NASCAR coming to that conclusion anytime soon unfortunatly.
