125 gr bullet in a K frame .357?
I have been reading a few gun boards and they say that 125 gr rnd is too hot for a K frame .357 revolver. Is this true and if so can I still shoot my 158 gr. rnds? They claim that the hot round will crack the “forcing cone”…I thought the K frame was a sturdy platform.
So if I shoot a box of 158 grain bullets every 3rd box that would be OK? Or are
Are you guys saying that when I bought a .357 I was buying a .38 special? How often can I shoot the 158 grains bullets? I have 1,200 rounds of 38 and 357. Is there a maximum like “no more than 25 rounds at the range per outing?”
My gun is a Taurus 66 K frame 4 inch barrel.
What is the damage that will result from .357 ammo, barrel wear or will it blow up in my face?

A box or two of those won’t hurt once in awhile, but I wouldn’t make it a habit.
The K-frames will take a lot of use, again you can’t just beat the snot out of them like you could a Ruger… but even they have their limits.
EDIT: Uh… If I were you I’d run maybe five or so boxes through it a year and call it that (per year). There is no need for that ammunition to be used. You just can’t use a whole *lot* of it… If you want to shoot that stuff all the time, get an N frame or a Security Six.
Secondary Edit: Nah, you bought a .357. I suggest you use whatever of the heavier stuff you have judiciously. It’s not gonna blow up on you, but if you make shooting that stuff a habit you’ll loosen it up.
