What is the best way to preserve the stickiness and grip for football gloves? Should I wash them?

I don’t know if I should wash my game gloves or not because I don’t want to lose the stickiness and grip on them by washing them. Is there any tricks to preserve it somehow?

Actually, what I do, is I spit on them and rub them together. This also works with just a bit of water from your water bottle. The reason they lose their stickiness is because dust and stuff gets on them and covers the stickiness. Washing them actually is a good idea, but spitting on them every once in a while is also good. Yes I know it’s gross, and they start to stink, but you can wash them.
