Grip Screws

Grip Screws
recently purchased pachmayr grips for ruger mark 3. The original screws seem to be short.?

anyone else have this issue? how did you solve it? Thanks.
Original screws do not extend out of the new grips. Tapping the handle so the screws go deeper is not an option (nothing much to drill out ). Where would you buy new longer screws?

The easiest would be to check the screws with the original grips. What you want to find out is how far they stick out from the inside of the grip. Next compare the original screws with the new grips the same way. You’ll now have a good idea of how long new screws need to be. If you have a dial or digital (cheap digital ones are $10) caliper, this will give you the most exact measurements.

If you are careful, you can make the hole for each screw just a bit deeper in the new grips. I suggest doing this on a drill press with an adjustable stop so you get the correct depth without guessing. Test on a piece of scrap wood and verify that you get the depth right. It would also be preferable to drill the hole with a flat bottom bit, but you might not have that option. A regular tapered point twist drill will probably be ok but getting the correct depth may be tricky unless it uses a countersunk type of screw head.

Any gun smith should be able to fix the problem easily.
