can i go into the army national guard with a plate and screws in my ankle?

active duty is not out of the question. the army recruiter in my town told me that himself. but i’m asking about national guard.

I served as a career counselor for the guard, your plate and screws doesn’t mean your automatically disqualified for anything. Waivers exist for everything and anything, when it happened range of motion and physical hindrance will all play a factor in your meeting the enlistment criteria. Best bet is to just go to the recruiter. Depending on how badly he needs to hit his numbers he will either bend over backwards getting AG or higher waivers, but you’ll probably need to track down your own medical documents.
