Gun Carry

In Pennsylvania what is the legal age to purchase a gun and carry it around?
What age do you have to be in Pennsylvania to purchase a gun?
What age and regulations do you have to follow to carry a gun in Pennsylvania?
In PA:
Short answer:
18 to buy a rifle. 21 to buy a handgun (but you can be gifted one from a parent at 18). 18 to open-carry anything. 21 to conceal-carry a handgun. You may not carry on school grounds, or in courts.
Long answer:
You may not own a gun until you’re 18. From an FFL, you may purchase a rifle at age 18 and a handgun at age 21. Although you cannot purchase a handgun from an FFL until 21, you may have a handgun gifted to you from a parent, grandparent, or spouse once you’re 18 years of age.
As for carry, you may not own, and therefore would not be able to carry a gun until you’re 18. At 18, you may open-carry any firearm you please, but cannot conceal-carry a handgun, SBR, SBS, or AOWs (basically, you are allowed to conceal rifles, and shotguns, but not handguns, sawn-off shotguns, mare’s leg rifles, etc). At age 21, you may obtain an LTCF that essentially allows you to conceal any firearm you wish, in any amount you wish.
The complicated part, the vehicle:
Now, while you can techniiically open-carry at age 18, you cannot conceal carry… Transporting a HANDGUN(/sbr/sbs/aow) in a vehicle to any place other than a range, fixed place of business, place of vacation, place of repair (gunsmith), or from a gun shop is not allowed without an LTCF… Furthermore, carrying a HANDGUN(/sbr/sbs/aow) in a vehicle is considered concealed, even if it’s not… lol. So if you want to open-carry at age 18, that’s fine, but you have to walk everywhere you want to go (we’re not sure if bikes are considered “open” carry… I wouldn’t risk it.)
As for rifles/shotguns… At age 18, you may open-carry them as you please, and you may conceal carry them as you please… But when transporting them in a vehicle, the firearm must be unloaded, and the magazines (if loaded) must be separate from the gun (So an unloaded rifle in a soft case with loaded magazines on the outer pockets of the soft case is legal inside of a vehicle).
Carry of any kind is prohibited on compulsory school grounds (elementary, middle school, high school), and inside federal buildings (courts and the like).
