Hand Scrimshaw
Alaskan ARTWORK by JOHN WILLS Entitled “Sitka By The Sea”?
I have a peice of art by John Wills that is numbered 300/1500 and has a date of 1978 AND says “Washington Mint INC.” in the lower left hand corner.
Does anyone KNOW anything about this man (John Wills), or this artwork piece??
It measures:
FRAME:
LENGTH: 31 and a half inches
By 18 inches
Inlaid peice: (has carvings like Scrimshaw)
LENGTH 26 and three quarters
By 14 inches
The Inset piece resembles a large piece of flat Ivory (but is more likely a man made meterial).
