Is it legal to carry a gun (handgun) on your own private boat?

not a pirate, i dont go anywhere without my gun. cant trust anyone these days. and also what if a shark attacks me or someone on board, what then??

I carry mine on my boat. I had a drunk come onto our boat one night on the islands, and he about died, but I decided not to shoot him. I did fire at him though. They called the lake patrol and they said I was in the right and that I had every right to protect my family and my boat. I live in Oklahoma
