How can I find out what the lock time is for a G-2 Contender?
I know Remington model 700 has the best lock time of any rifle, and would like to know how much slower my Contender is. Google has failed me!
You will probably have to contact TC to find that one out and I am sure it varies somewhat from unit of manufacture to unit of manufacture (scientific error: every matchbox SHOULD have 50 matches but not always). I did some googling myself and you are right-Remington beats both Winchester and Ruger on lock-times. This probably explains some old complaints about the Ruger M77/22 not being as accurate as it should). I had a TC G-2 in .22 match (sold it to finance something) and they are good guns, but lock times on hammer based guns are going to be a lot slower than on other firing systems. For what it is worth, the lock time on a single-action revolver is slower than on a double-action revolver (the double has a lighter, faster hammer). This eplains why most people shoot more accurately with a d.a. gun in s.a-mode than with a s.a. revolver.
