Locking Bolt
how can you get the locking bolt apart for the nerf longstrike cs6?
I just had this same issue when my son put it together without my help. He had put the bolt through the slot but not through the little hole in the slot. With the bolt in the wrong spot you can’t get anything on the gun to work as the bolt actually blocks the chamber from coming back all the way.
TO FIX THIS:
I tried putting a slotted screwdriver between the bolt plastic and the gun and prying but that DIDN’T work and I almost broke the gun. DO NOT PRY! Instead, I took out my drill and put a small hole in the end on one side of the orange bolt. I just picked a drill bit that fit exactly in between the two lines of plastic running along the end. Once the bit made it through the thin layer of plastic there’s nothing there until you hit the metal pin about 1 inch in.
I removed the bit and could look in and see the pin. The idea here is that I could put something down in that hole and hit it with a hammer to knock the pin out the other side. I took the gun out to the garage and grabbed a nail that would fit down in the hole. Before using the nail, I thought it might be easier if the nail wasn’t so sharp and pointy. I hammered the nail a few times onto the garage floor just to dull it a bit. Don’t hit it too hard or you’ll bend your nail. I then put an old towel on the step in my garage. I laid the gun flat on the towel on its side with the bolt hanging just off the side of the step. I put the nail down in the hole making sure I could hear metal-on-metal. I then took the hammer and hit the nail a couple of times and then stopped to make sure the pin was being driven out (the bolt was looser and could move more side-to-side). I then put everything back on the step and hit it a few more times before the bolt popped out the other side!!!!
Yahoo!!! I was then able to put it THROUGH the hole and push it in without any trouble. HAPPY DAY! Hope this works for you!
