Airsoft gun help?

Okay. For my birthday, I got an A-15 Full Auto Max BB Airsoft Guns. I know how to put the thing together and everything but to shoot, I have to have it upside down. Normally it is suppose to be normal and not upside down(Like every other gun). It is suppose to shoot 170 FPS but it only goes like 20 FPS. Is it because the battery isnt charged long enough, if so how long will it take. Do I need to do anything with the magazine? Can anyone help me? If so, I will award you with “Best Answer” and a lot of thanks.

THE GUN TAKES BATTERY.

AC/DC Adaptor
MODEL: Hj-103
INPUT: AC 110 V 60Hz
OUTPUT: DC 7.2 V 250mA

** Mag **

I had the same mag feeding problem with this:

JG AK47 Metal Body – Wood (PGB)

http://www.hitguns.com/JG-AK-47-AEG-Metal-Body-Wood-AK47-Airsoft-Gun-p/jg_0506w_metal_ak_wood.htm

$60

The only way it would fire is if I held it upside down, so I called their help and they said to eliminate any mag “wobble” and it worked when I held the mag tighter than the mag catch could clamp it – so I had to tape up the mag release catch with electrical tape to tighen it up, no wobble and shoots like a champ (well for a plastic gearbox anyhow :)

So this one is yours eh?

I don’t have an M4/A15 LPEG, so I can’t comment on your fix – I did a quick search and found this:

G&P M4 CQBR review @ ASCUK

http://www.airsoftcommunity.co.uk/reviews/showproduct.php/product/2/limit/views

“The magazines don’t stick into place and wobble which leads to the odd blank fire. But this was sorted with sticking tape near the top of the magazine.”

So this guy had a less extreme issue as we had (his was firing at least w/ an occasional misfire) and fixed it with electrical tape mod.

What I did to find it out the mag was the problem was grip the mag and put a bit of pressure on it (so I was “pulling” on the mag towards my body) and it started fired no problem, and when I let go it stopped feeding. Give that a try not sure how your mag catch is positioned so try a few pressure points & direction until you get it to stop wobbling and start firing :)

** Battery **

For the battery, check to see if yours is NiCad or NiMH – if it’s NiCad then run it down until it dies, then charge it according to this rule:

charge time (hours) = battery capacity (mAh) / charger output (mA)

So for example my MP7 uses a 7.2v 450mAh battery and my charger is same as yours 250mA:

450mAh / 250mA = 1.8h which is 1h and 48mins so I give it a 2 hour charge usually and will never exceed 2h and 10 mins (the heat buildup will be too much and kill the battery)

To prevent killing the battery in case I forgot about charging it, I picked up one of these from my local home depot

Intermatic Lamp & Appliance Timer TN111C

http://www.intermatic.com/Default.asp?action=prod&pid=197&did=5&cid=43&sid=113

$5 (at local home depot)

So I just set it for a 2 hr window, plug it in overnight, and remember to unplug it sometime during the next day. It has suprisingly accurate run time, but can’t say the same for the start / stop time but don’t really care about that.

If you have a battery that is 1100mAh or greater consider a smart charger like this one

Smart Universal Charger for Airsoft Guns NiMH / NiCd Battery pack 7.2V – 12V

http://www.hitguns.com/Smart-Universal-Charger-for-NiMH-NiCd-Battery-p/tenergy-smart-charger.htm

$30

it charges my bigger packs in about an hour, when it would normally take 4~6+ hours on the slow wall charger.

** FPS **

For your FPS issue, the fully charged battery may solve it.

Another way to estimate FPS & distance, check out this FPS calcuator:

http://www.dpro.dk/Airsoft.int/calcfpsHmm.htm

so for your info put in .12g as the “BB weight (in grams):” in the first section, and 170fps in the “Speed (Feet Per Second):” section and hit “calculate, you only need the energy which is 0.16J

On to the next section, put in .12g as the “Mass (grammes)” value and 0.16 in “Energy (Joule)” value and you get 76.48 feet.

So if you shoot with the rifle from 1m high and get it shooting straight and level and have absolutely no wind resistance it should go just shy of 76.5 feet. Real world would be around 65~70 ft (maybe less since .12g tends to be inaccurate at those distances).

Maybe go to a field or something and shoot off about a mag worth and see what the average distance is and you should get an idea of what the FPS is based on the above data.

cheers
