Have you noticed gun innovation has not ended?
JMB developed the 1911 with a left side safety, modern versions have an ambi safety, and your choice of flat or arched mainspring housing.
Eugene Stoner developed the AR as a gas impingement rifle, modern versions are gas piston, and come in many more calibers than was ever envisioned by E. Stoner.
Plastic pistols have all sorts of new safeties that hadn’t even been thought of decades ago, for that matter, the introduction of high impact polymer for making pistol frames is an innovation in itself. We have 2 new revolvers with plastic frames!
Using stronger, lighter alloy metals for revolvers to lessen their weight, using new alloy aluminum and titanium that’s stronger than steel. All of these are modern innovations.
How can anyone who claims to be intelligent not see that there are constant innovations in the firearms industry?

I’d guess someone taking a contrary view in the face of the obvious facts is either dumber than the proverbial bag o’ hammers or desperately trying to gain attention. Makes you wonder.
