Tibia and Fibula break down around ankle. How long to recover after plate and screw removal.?

I broke my leg falling out of a tree. The surgeon used a plate and 6 screws to reattach the fibula. Two 3″ screws were used to secure the tibia together. From what I’ve read this is a procedure used in this type break. I want to have the hardware removed. Does anyone know what is involved and how long to recover? Thank you in advance.

Ask your doctor. I crushed a bone in my foot and my doctor put in a steel plate with 4 screws. Je told me they would be in there permantly. Good Luck
