Maximum Ride: Protectors Series-should I bother?

I’ve been reading book reviews, and apparently The Final Warning is REALLY BAD. I’ve heard that Max and Fang (the books) are alright. Should I just skip The Final Warning? Should I bother with The Protectors Series at all? I don’t want to ruin the first three books, which I absolutely LOVED! What was your take on the books?
Side note- I am a DIE HARD Fang fan. If the next three books have a lot of Fang in them, and his character doesn’t change, I will probably like them. Is there a lot of Fang in them? The same Fang from the first three, not a new, differently acting Fang?

Do NOT read the next ones if you haven’t already. The series just drops off after Saving the World, which was the high point for me. DO NOT read the next two. (three? I don’t know if a new one has been rreleased)
