ford ranger repairs?

I have a 2002 ranger 2wd with a 3.0 v6. Clutch master cylinder leaks underneath, i am going to replace it. A repair shop said they saw a leak where clutch plate is. They want to drop trans. and put a new seal in and replace the clutch plate. Does anybody have another idea what might be going on? Clutch worked ok up till now. In the morning have to add fluid and pump clutch to get firm peddle. Trying to save some money here. Any ideas? Mileage is 46,000.

I think the clutch cylinder is inside the bellhousing (by the clutch)
If your losing fluid the shop is probably being honest with you.
