In the Terminator what kind of gun recoil happens?
Okay so I am lost on this. When the Terminator (on a motorcycle) is firing his rifle at the truck chasing the boy, what kind of a recoil do you see? What would you expect to see according to Newton’s third law?

This is a straight math problem. The shotgun fires a 12 gauge shell. That paticular shotgun (Winchester 97) uses a 2 3/4″ shell. In the movie he was using 00 buck. The shot weighs about 1 ounce and comes out of the gun at about 1500 feet per second. The shotgun weighs about 5 pounds, the terminator about 260 and the bike about 500. If we add the weight of the shotgun, the terminator and the bike together we end up with 765 pounds. We then multiply that times 16 to get ounces, giving us 12240 ounces. Given that the shot is leaving the barrel at 1500 FPS we can then determine the acceleration applied to the STBA (shotgun, terminator, bike assembly). The number is 1500 / 12240. This gives us an acceleration of 0.122549 FPS in the direction to the reverse of the muzzle of the gun.
