Arsenal Grease and Cosmoline Removal?

Howdy all,

I need some help choosing the best method for removing Arsenal Grease and Cosmoline from stored rifle parts. The Arsenal Grease and Cosmoline is on all parts: Metal, wood & fabric (such as bayonet scabbards).

Hopefully there is one best way to remove the gunk that is the same for all of the materials.

Gasoline and a tooth brush works wonders but be careful. Use it outside and in a well vented area. Make sure all parts dry completely. Do not leave the wood soak in it.

After cleaning, wipe metal parts with a light oil to keep from rusting
