Is it better to have grip tape or rubber on a wakeskate?

i just started wakeskating and i want to know if the grip tape wakeskates have any more grip than ones with rubber tops or if there are any other reasons you prefer one to the other. i’ve only ridden a wakeskate with a rubber top. i also wakeboard and skateboard if that helps

i use eva foam because i did get rashed pretty bad on a simple fall. i’m not real good but i hear the grip tape gives more of a skateboard feel.
