Safe Poster

Why has my bird been eating my poster?
My budgie, Feather, has been eating a poster of mine. Why is he eating it and is it safe?
The main reason is that you have it where he can get to it and that’s what birds do. They nibble on things. It may very well not be safe. In fact, it’s possible it could poison him. It depends on the type of paper and the types of ink that are on it. I suggest you be safe rather than sorry and do whatever it takes to keep it out of his reach. If he wants to nibble paper, that is okay so long as it’s safe paper with no ink. All my birds like having a roll of plain, adding machine tape. I
hang it in their cages and they love to shred it. If you will check around in thrift stores, you can probably find a lot since that type of machine is going out of popularity. And please DO NOT GIVE YOUR BIRD GRIT OR GRAVEL, as someone suggested. Your bird is a “hook bill” and does not need it. It could be dangerous if he has access to any and if he should ingest it. It can cause blockage in his crop or any where throughout his digestive system.
