Fold Up Bikes – Practical and Cool
For people who’d like to cycle to work and other destinations without worrying about where to leave your bike safely, or for people who’d like a mode of transport and exercise that is convenient to store at home, fold up bikes are the answer.
If part of your commute every day is on a train or a bus a folding bike is a perfect solution. As trains continue to reduce the number of bikes allowed, a folding bike gets around this issue nicely. Fold up bikes are getting lighter all the time and the folding action is getting easier. You could also store a fold up bike under your desk at work.
Fold up bikes aren’t totally suitable for long distance journeys or touring but if you’re only pedalling a short way they are ideal. Most modern fold up bikes are now also geared and have a comfortable cycling position. They can be quickly and easily folded when you reach your destination or get on public transport. They also eliminate storage problems that normal bikes have as they can be easily stored in a small flat or house without a garage or a shed.
As the weather warms up and the evenings get lighter our thoughts turn to spending as much time as possible outdoors. Most of us also start to think about summer wardrobes and start getting prepared with exercise becoming a priority.
Cycling is a great way to exercise outdoors, as well as being very useful but enivronmentally friendly transport. However plans of riding everywhere are often thwarted by worries of where to leave your bike on arrival at your destination. This is where fold up bikes have the advantage over ordinary non-folding bikes.
The storage of fold up bikes isn’t a problem at all as you can just fold it up and take it inside with you. Fold up bike riders never have to worry about getting a suitable spot to leave their bike outdoors or about the safety of leaving it unwatched. Instead all they have to do is fold the bike into its compact form and take it with them, without even thinking about storage or security.
Makers of fold up bikes have recently started to combat the tag of “uncool” that has previously been given to the product as well. So there are new designs coming out all the time, made by most of the top brands.
Fold up bikes have improved a lot since their original design and now use innovative designs and funky colours while still being practical. Fold up bikes are now an excellent alternative to ordinary non-folding bikes with the advantage of being able to take them with you anywhere and store them easily.
