Shaped Pistol
Would you buy this pistol, or leave it alone?
My friend owns a gun store so needless to say I get great prices. However, he has had a S&W 686 for over a year now, which is in great shape. I have been wanting one, but this one was used in a murder/suicide, and he tells all prospective buyers because he doesn’t want it coming back on him (it’s a small community). It should have been sold long ago, but no one wants it. What are your feelings on this?

Shogun, sometimes I’ll admit I’m a bit of a “karma” oriented guy… what goes around… comes around.
However, I’ll tell you the story behind my Krag-Jorgensen (handed down from my great grandfather, to my grandfather, to me). Beautiful rifle… my Great grandfather was a runner in WWI. Family legend has it he gored some of the kaiser’s finest with the bayonet (he had a bit of a temper too I hear… so that might just add to the violence in said goring). This rifle has seen *use*, and it has killed many men… as most of my rifles have. Hell, my 1903A1 I’m sure has seen usage during WWII… and I’m sure it’s killed *one* or *two* people in its day.
Point in case is… there are a lot of military surplus rifles floating around that have killed legions of men. I have not heard of an owner getting any bad karma from one… not once (other than someone not checking headspace before they shoot it and KABOOM!!!).
Buy that 686 and shoot the hell out of it. I may be biased toward Ruger revolvers……. but I’d someday like a 686. Don’t worry about what it did in its past. You didn’t do anything, therefore the karma is negated.
