Where are the serial numbers located at on a Winchester Model 37 Steel Bilt 410 shotgun?

Where are the serial numbers located at on a Winchester Model 37 Steel Bilt 410 shotgun single shot? mfg 1936-1963. Not the model 37A. Did put Serial #’s on this gun or not?
It should be on the reciever but I do not see it, and it is not on the bbl either. Do they not have serial #’s?

Some old inexpensive shotguns don’t have a serial number. Yours is probably one of them.
