hunting shotgun: sling or scabbard?
just want to hear your opinions. I’m leaning towards buying a scabbard
i got the gun for pig hunting, which also includes hiking. i figure that a little padding would make it a little more comfortable. plus less b.s. to muck up the whole loading/pumping/firing.
they both require some time to draw, but i figure i’d know when to have my gun ready. after all, i’m trying to catch them by surprise, not quick draw.
It don’t see where it matters. You see, I would never have my weapon slung over my shoulder or in a scabbard while stalking game. I was always taught to have my weapon, in hand, safety on, hands off the trigger and ready to use. If I am simply traveling from one spot to the next, I will render the weapon safe first by having no round chambered or not having the weapon cocked. That is the only way to carry a weapon slung or in a scabbard safely. So how quickly you get it un-slung is not important.
Carrying a weapon in fire ready condition on a sling or scabbard is a good way to shoot someone or something accidentally.
