what is a monte carlo shotgun stock for?

i see that type of stock all the time. i believe its for trap shooting but im not sure. i have a remington 870 and i want to trap shoot with it. ive been told to get a trap stock to make it easier. they have a monte carlo stock on their webiste for the 870 and it looks like a trap stock because it is raised. i was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it? thanks!

Its used for slug guns with a scope to raise the line of sight for the scope.
