Remington 700 Upgrades
The MDT TAC-21 chassis is intended to give the Remington 700 AR-like handling characteristics and allows it to take AR accessories. The TAC-21 V-beds a Remington 700 action, centers it and v-beds it. A 20 MoA droop is machined in to the receiver part of the top rail for long range shooting. The section above the barrel is parallel with it. Additional Picatinny rail sections can be added to the hand guard. For ultimate reliability it is designed to accept Accuracy International 4 and 10 round mags. You can add any AR15 stock or pistol grip making this a very configurable system. This is a highly configurable system that takes the Remington 700 into the 21st century.
Surgeon rifles make some of the most accurate Remington 700 pattern actions on the market. Their Surgeon short round action is machined from high grade stainless steel. All the mating surfaces are EDM machined to ensure a perfectly smooth operation. The action is drilled and tapped for four #8-36 tpi scope mounting screws and two dowel pins which take much of the stress away from these smaller mounting screws. The fluted bolt is machined from a single billet of steel for ultimate rigidity. The action has a separate 0.250″ double pinned recoil lug. This action will work with the TAC-21, MOR07, Accuracy International Chassis System and any stock that fits the Remington 700 short action. It will work with any bottom metal intended for the Remington.
Surgeon Remington bottom metal will work with the Surgeon small round action or any Remington 700 short action. Some fitting may be required. The bottom metal is machined from the same 7075 T6 aluminum as M16 receivers and hard coat anodized in a scuff and corrosion resistant matte black finish. A lot of thought has gone into the bottom metal, including rounding off all sharp edges, fitting a low profile ambidextrous mag release and bevelling the magazine well for rapid magazine changes. The Remington bottom metal accepts Accuracy International 5 and 10 round magazines. These magazines are phosphated matte black and have self lubricating followers. The bottom metal can be used with most Remington 700 short action stocks.
