How to buy a stock at a set price?
I am at a beginner level in stocks trading. I am looking at a stock which I want to buy only when it comes down to $14 otherwise not. Currently it is at $15. I don’t want to od it manually but rather automatically when the price is down. I use zecco for trading. How do I do that.
1) Use a Buy Limit order. So your order will read “Buy X shares Limit $14.00 GTC” (Good till Canceled) Now, your order will execute automatically at a price of $14.00 or better (lower); and GTC orders are usually good for 60 days.
2) Options. Short Puts. If you short a $14 put of the stock, you are obligated to buy the stock at $14.00 should the price of the stock fall below $14 and someone puts the stock to you. If the price of the stock continues to rise above your stated $15 market value, you pocket a couple of bucks on the side (the premium) for writing the put upon expiration.
