best tactical rifle on a budget?

looking for a good semi-auto tactical rifle that is not insanely expensive. i see allot of ar15s out there but im not sure if one brand is better than another. i prefer ether 5.56 or 7.62×51, but i am open minded. im looking to get the best rifle possible for around but preferably under $2000. Any tips or suggestions on what to look at?

Since you have an open mind may I suggust the ak47. Superb reliability and affordable ammo. Tons of accessories and you’ll still be way under your $limit. Good luck finding something.
