Where is that sewer smell coming from?

I replaced the floor and toilet in my bathroom and now have a slight sewer odor in my bathroom. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there before. The new toilet has been there for over a month and today I pulled it up and replaced the wax ring with one of the extra thick ones… still smells. If there is not a complete seal would the smell come from the bowl? That’s where it seems to be coming from… the flange is just about level with the floor.
