Wood Grips
How do I remove the wood grips from my S&W Model 627 Revolver?
I took the screw off that is inlayed in the middle of the grip, but was unable to slide the handle off. Is there a trick?

Item was new. I’m the first owner.
The “Current” Smith & Wesson N frame Model 627 is a S&W Performance Center Handgun and comes with “Molded” Hogue Rubber Grips.These Grips are 1 Piece “Clamshell” design and once you remove the screw the grip panels need to be gently pried apart from the front (Vertical Seam behind the trigger guard) It will literally open like a “clam” since these rubber grips only have a seam in the front and not the rear…
OR
*If by chance you have an OLDER Model 627 N-frame with S&W logo 2 piece Wood Grips, simply unscrew the screw..Leave it in the hole and gently tap on the screw head with a piece of wood or a plastic headed hammer.The Grip panel(s) will come off with little additional effort…..`
